چکیده

In the course of screening rhizosphere microflora of Sonoran desert plants for potential anticancer agents1,2), an unidentified Penicillium sp. (Trichonaceae) isolated from the rhizosphere of the apache plume (Fallugia paradoxa D. Don; Rosaceae) was found to produce several cytotoxic substances. Fractionation of the cytotoxic EtOAc extract led to the isolation of a new anthraquinone (1), a known anthraquinone (2), and cytotoxic curvularins, 3-5. This is the first report of the natural occurrence of 2. Curvularins 3-5 have been reported as metabolites of several fungi including Penicillium sp.3,4) This paper briefly describes the isolation of 1-5, structure elucidation of 1, and evaluation of 1-5 for their ability to inhibit the growth of three sentinel tumor cell lines. A New Native Source of Tannase Producer, Penicillium sp. EZ-ZH190: Characterization of the Enzyme

Background: Tannase can be obtained from the various sources for example tannin rich plants; however microbial sources are preferred for industrial production. In microbial sources, the Aspergillus and Penicillium genus and lactic acid bacteria mostly produce tannase. However, it has been identified that this enzyme is produced by many fungi and bacteria, but research...

Enzymatic diversity in the haloactinomycetes isolated from rhizosphere of the plants in saline soils at the periphery of Dasht-e-Kavir desert

Saline rhizospheric areas are untouched environments for isolating actinomycetes with the potential of valuable salt tolerant enzyme production. In this study, we isolated and evaluated a total number of of 26 actinomycete strains from plant rhizosphere of the periphery of Dasht-e-Kavir desert. Isolated actinomycetes produced different enzymes. Among them 50, 46, 39, 27, 10 and 7 % of the isola...

Antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of metabolites produced by a new marine Streptomyces sp. isolated from the sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota

Marine microorganisms are important sources for novel natural products. Hence, the aim of this study was to introduce marine microorganisms with the capability of producing antioxidant and cytotoxic metabolites. For this purpose, ten live sea cucumbers (Holothuria leucospilota) were collected from Larak Island, Persian Gulf. Then, their intestine contents were serially diluted and treated by he...

Molecular identification of Azotobacter isolated from the rhizosphere of Karunvariety of barley in desert and its comparison with standard Azotobacter andinvestigation of some of the vegetation indicators after inoculation

This study was conducted in acompletely randomized block design with three replications using three concentrations of 107, 105, and 103cfu/ml of Azotobacter isolated from the rhizosphere of Karun varieties of barley (Az. salentris) and standard Az.chrococom along with control (zero concentration of bacteria). The aim of this study was to study the reactions of barley plantin response to inocula...

Penicimenolides A-F, Resorcylic Acid Lactones from Penicillium sp., isolated from the Rhizosphere Soil of Panax notoginseng

Five new 12-membered resorcylic acid lactone derivatives, penicimenolides A-E (1-5), one new ring-opened resorcylic acid lactone derivative penicimenolide F (6), and six known biogenetically related derivatives (7-12) were isolated from the culture broth of a strain of Penicillium sp. (NO. SYP-F-7919), a fungus obtained from the rhizosphere soil of Panax notoginseng collected from the Yunnan pr...
